The Johnson Matthey / Stillwater mining palladium round is a unique way to invest in palladium. Stillwater Mining is the largest producer of both palladium and platinum in the US with its production of each precious metals primarily coming from the stillwater reef area in Montana. To commemorate the discovery of the west, Stillwater created and iconic design with Lewis and Clark on the obverse of the palladium round and a bison on the reverse. The Johnson Matthey 1 oz palladium round is stamped with its fineness of 999.5, meaning it is guaranteed to be at least 999.5/1000 pure palladium and its weight of 1 troy ounce palladium.

Palladium rounds or palladium bars tend to not be as commonly traded as their gold, silver, and platinum cousins. The price of palladium bullion is driven primarily be the spot price of palladium, the cost of producing and distributing the palladium rounds, as well as the volatility and liquidity of the palladium rounds. Premiums on the Stillwater palladium round is generally much lower than that of sovereign mint palladium coins, like the Canadian Palladium Maple Leaf.

The Johnson Matthey 1 oz palladium may be IRA eligible. Please call your IRA company to check to see if they have this beautiful palladium round on their list of approved palladium bullion products.

Palladium bullion is one of the least common traded precious metals. It is usually a by product of either nickel or platinum mining with the bulk of the world’s supply coming from Russia as a by product of nickel mining. The palladium price is lower than that of the price of gold (although it has in the past had a higher price). Canadian Palladium coins are one of the only well known sovereign mint bullion coins that is produced. Palladium prices tend to be more volatile than gold prices and as such, the spread between the buy and sell price of any palladium bar or coin, including the Canadian Palladium Maple Leaf is wider than that of gold bullion.

The Palladium Maple Leaf is IRA eligible.

"Went in to sell a little scrap gold I had around the house from work and an gawdy "gold" and Indian Head Penny ring I received as a Christmas present 10 years ago from a relative. This was my first visit to the store and certainly won't be my last. Jimmy was straight forward about what was good, what was junk, and what was a cheap gold plated ring. He had the numbers right there to show his analysis, 100% transparent on the whole transaction and up front about everything. It was a pleasure doing business there."
